Opening odds for Week 6 XFL schedule

Most of the games in this weekend’s XFL lineup have a chance to be close. Here’s what we think of the opening odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Week 6 of the 2020 XFL season will begin on Saturday. The Houston Roughnecks will likely improve to 6-0 against a New York Guardians team that’s started to find their footing after a quarterback change. But the rest of the games could go down to the wire.

DraftKings Sportsbook posted their opening lines for Week 6 of the XFL season, and here’s our evaluation of the odds.

Houston Roughnecks @ New York Guardians

Point spread: HOU -6.5

Houston is still the best team in the XFL and will face a New York team that had its best defensive outing of the year in Week 5. However, the Guardians will face a completely healthy Roughnecks team that’s has the most dynamic scoring offense in the league right now, rather than a Dallas Renegades team with Philip Nelson manning the helm. Luis Perez could have a tough time against the team that leads the league in takeaways. Expect Houston to cover the spread handily.

St. Louis BattleHawks @ Tampa Bay

Point spread: STL -3.5

The BattleHawks might be the second best team in the XFL, but this game could be a close one. Jordan Ta’amu has been subpar in his last two games, making St. Louis seem one dimensional at times. On the other side, the Vipers’ Taylor Cornelius has continued to improve as a field general with each game and has the best ground game in the league behind him. Ta’amu will have to play an above average game for the BattleHawks to win.

Dallas Renegades @ DC Defenders

Point spread: DC -4

Dallas was embarrassed by New York in Week 5, falling short 30-12. Now they’ll face a DC team that knocked off St. Louis in its last outing after benching Cardale Jones for Tyree Jackson. The Defenders seemed reluctant to test Jackson’s arm, and it’s unclear whether he or Jones will start in Week 6. Either way, the BattleHawks have a more dynamic offense than the Renegades do with Nelson. The signal caller has no touchdowns and three interceptions on the year, so DC should get the job done at home.

Los Angeles Wildcats @ Seattle Dragons

Point spread: LA -3

Los Angeles pulled off an impressive comeback win against Tampa Bay in Week 5 after trailing by 14. Now the Wildcats will hit the road to face a Seattle team that gave Houston a run for its money with B.J. Daniels under center in his first start of the season. Los Angeles’ passing attack rivals Houston’s, so Seattle has to dig in defensively for the entire game to win. If Nelson Spruce is serviceable, the Wildcats should run away with this. If not, I think the Dragons have a shot.
