The No. 10 seeded Boston College Eagles are set to face off against the No. 7 seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday night, but it remains to be seen if the Eagles can muster up a squad that is at full strength by tip off. With the Eagles’ line-up recently hit hard with injury, they will hope to have some key players back as they fight for a berth in the NCCA tournament.
Forward Nik Popovic remains questionable with a back injury as of Tuesday night. He is the team’s third leading scorer, averaging 10.5 points per game. He averages 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, with a 43.5% field goal percentage on the season.
Guard Jared Hamilton also remains questionable with an ankle injury at this time. He is the team’s fifth leading scorer, averaging 8.0 points per game, while adding 2.4 rebounds per game, one steal, and one assist per game.
To round out the injury plight of the Boston College Eagles, forward Jairus Hamilton remains questionable with a knee injury. He is the team’s fourth leading scorer, averaging 9.4 points per game. Hamilton has added an average of 4.3 rebounds and one assist per game on the season.
The Eagles will remain hopeful that they can enter the ACC tournament at full health, as the absence of these three players would subtract nearly 30 points from the team’s average of 70.3 points per game.
In each of the prior match ups this year between these two teams, fans were treated to true nail biters. The teams split the two games as Boston College squeaked out a 73-72 victory on December 7, but later fell to the Fighting Irish with a final score of 61-62 on February 26.
The Eagles enter Wednesday nights game as nine-point underdogs with the over/under set at 140 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Both teams struggled against the spread recently. Boston College covered once in its last five games, while Notre Dame is 2-5 against the number in its last seven. The over hit in 10 of Notre Dame’s last 15 games, and Boston College overs are 4-1 in its last five.
