The Gonzaga Bulldogs avenged their loss in last year’s West Coast Conference championship with a 84-66 win over the Saint Mary’s Gaels to take home the 2020 WCC crown on Tuesday night at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With the win, the ‘Zags are assured of the No. 1 seed in the West bracket of the NCAA Tournament. On a team filled with international stars, it was freshman Drew Timme that scored 17 points on 7/8 shooting from the floor. Joel Ayayi also had 17 points and kicked in seven rebounds as well.
The ‘Zags were one of the biggest favorites of the conference tournament season, and were -435 favorites to take home the trophy they just did. Saint Mary’s was +700, but those that bought a ticket will walk away empty-handed.
Saint Mary’s can’t hang their head for too long, as their win over BYU last night ensured they’ll be in the NCAA tournament via an at-large bid. Both ESPN and CBS Sports have the Gaels as a No. 8 seed in March Madness
