UPDATE, March 10, 11:21 a.m.: The Ivy League announced the cancellation.
The Ivy League is set to cancel its 2020 conference tournament due to concerns about the coronavirus, according to college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein.
The Yale Bulldogs will receive the league’s men’s basketball automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA tournament as regular season champions. Yale finished the season 23-7 and 11-3 in conference play. They closed the season one game up on the Harvard Crimson.
The Princeton Tigers will receive the league’s women’s basketball automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA tournament as regular season champions. Princeton finished the season 26-1 and 14-0 in conference play. They closed the season four games up on the Penn Quakers.
The Ivy League tournament is the newest of the conference tournaments. Prior to 2017, the regular season champion received an automatic berth to the tournament. This year, the tournament was going to take place at Lavietes Pavilion on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 14th and 15th.
In the men’s tournament, Yale was going to face Penn and Harvard was going to face Princeton in the semifinals. In the women’s tournament, Princeton was going to face Columbia and Penn was going to face Yale.
