DC Defenders at Tampa Bay Vipers injury report

The Defenders look to recover from a huge beatdown in L.A. last weekend and a true meltdown by quarterback Cardale Jones. Head coach Pep Hamilton will look to get his quarterback and offense back on track in Tampa Bay, who has given up the most points in the league.

The Vipers will look for their first win on the season. After scoring no offensive touchdowns in the first two weeks, head coach Marc Trestman handed over play-calling duties to his OC Jaime Elizondo. The Vipers promptly went out and scored three touchdowns and 27 total points, but lost to the league leading Houston Roughnecks. This week we’ll get to see if their offense has truly turned a corner.

Tampa Bay will be without backup quarterback and Swiss Army knife Quinton Flowers, who has asked to be released. He doesn’t seem too keen on playing in his current role. His absence could hurt, as he scored a touchdown last week and is a versatile playmaker with the ball in his hands.

Quarterback Aaron Murray will return this week with the probably designation, but Taylor Cornelius will get the nod as starter. Murray is supposed to get a few plays to help get him back into the swing of things, so there is a chance that he could see more work if Cornelius isn’t playing well.

Tight end Nick Truesdell is doubtful and won’t play once again. His absence should continue to help Jalen Tolliver see good usage.
