In an absolute stunner, the South Korean film Parasite won the Oscar for Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards on Sunday night.

1917, which won most of the prizes during awards season heading into the 2020 Oscars, was expected to win the greatest prize in cinema, with odds of -155 at the time of the ceremony. But Parasite was closing on the odds boards all week, and was +200 at the time of the ceremony at DraftKings Sportsbook.

1917 actually opened actually +200, but had odds of -200 by January 23rd and -250 by February 3rd as more and more people seemed to be getting behind the picture.

There was a lot of people saying that members of The Academy wouldn’t even watch a foreign-language film if they were sent a screener. It turns out that was wrong, and the Best Picture of the year is in Korean, a major milestone for those that love cinema.
