UPDATE: Charles Kanoff got the start with Josh Johnson sidelined by a thigh injury. There were pre-game reports Jalan McClendon would start, but Kanoff is taking the first snaps of the game.
The Los Angeles Wildcats are expected to be a key man short in their XFL debut game against the Houston Roughnecks. Quarterback Josh Johnson has not been able to practice due to a thigh injury and is listed as questionable for Week 1. However, by all accounts, Jalan McClendon is expected to start the game.
We have limited information outside of the injury reports, and with brand new beats being developed, it will take time to develop inside sources to figure out what depth charts and position battles really mean.
For now, McClendon will offer some intriguing DFS value with Johnson likely to be sidelined. He’s the cheapest quarterback in the DraftKings Showdown matchup this afternoon, coming in at $9,000 as a captain and $6,000 in the flex role. The league is loaded with wild cards, but given the importance of the QB position, McClendon is as much a wild card as anybody else. Maybe he’s worth rolling the dice on in DFS!
