A game between the Seattle Dragons and DC Defenders will kick off the 2020 XFL season at 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. DraftKings has made DFS contests for the league available ahead of the weekend. You might know some of the names in the XFL, but there will also be quite a few you don’t know. We broke down the best Showdown lineup advice for the first game of the year to help you out.
Captain Obvious
Cardale Jones, QB, Defenders ($16,200)
Jones has won some big games during his football career, as he went 11-0 as a starter at Ohio State, where he won a national championship in 2015. Although he has great size, a strong arm, and mobility, he never really got a chance in the NFL. He attempted only 11 passes in his rookie year with the Buffalo Bills before bouncing around to the then-San Diego Chargers and Seattle Seahawks. But he was also the second quarterback off the board in the XFL Draft. In a league where scoring is expected to be off the charts, you can pass up a quarterback who can get the job done with his arm and legs like Jones.
Captain Courageous
Keenan Reynolds, WR, Dragons ($13,500)
Reynolds is listed as Seattle’s top wide receiver on the depth chart, and its second option, Kasen Williams, has been ruled out with a quad injury. Reynolds is a quarterback turned wide receiver who set an NCAA Division I record for rushing touchdowns (88) and has a kind of athleticism that doesn’t come around often. Look for him to be targeted plenty — especially since the Dragons are missing a critical piece of their receiving corps.
Flex Men
Seattle Dragons RBs
Ja’Quan Gardner ($1,800) sits at the top of the depth chart at running back, but Kenneth Farrow ($10,200) will split work with him in the backfield. Clearly being named the Week 1 starter must not mean much here, as Trey Williams ($3,600) is priced higher than Gardner and could also be in for significant touches. It’s unclear how the Dragons will approach using their personnel moving forward, but all of these options are feature back candidates at this point. Farrow has the most recent NFL experience and spent time with the Miami Dolphins in 2019, but there’s no calling this one.
