The Cleveland Cavaliers are scraping the bottom of the barrel in the Eastern Conference once again, and need a fresh start for their young core and new head coach. Kevin Love’s disappointment with his situation is obvious, but his value on the trade market is gloomy. Teams could be deterred by an injury-prone 31-year old with a four-year, $120 million contract.
Will Kevin Love get traded before the deadline?
Love has been linked to several teams since his news of his outward dislike for Cleveland became common knowledge. One of the earliest rumors to surface regarding Love’s next stop this year suggested that he wants to join go to Portland — where he played high school ball — to finish out his NBA days with the Trail Blazers. He’s a strong rebounder who could also serve as a catch-and-shoot scorer, which would spread the floor for Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. However, ESPN’s Zach Lowe says the Cavs have “very little market” for the big man right now. The Phoenix Suns are considered a dark horse to land him though.
Prediction: It doesn’t look like he’ll be traded now, but that could change in the coming days.
