UPDATE: Feb. 6, 11:48 a.m. — The Grizzlies are sending Jae Crowder to the Heat as part of the Iguodala deal, per Shams. Solomon Hill and Dion Waiters are also involved in the trade.
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 11:23 p.m. — So it looks like the Thunder are jumping into this trade and Gallinari could be heading to South Beach as well.
Here's one key to getting this three-team deal done and Gallinari to Miami, league sources tell ESPN: Can OKC get Miami to lift the protections on a 2023 first-round pick the Heat owe the Thunder? The pick was originally protected in the top 14. https://t.co/6FMHjDieKI— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 6, 2020
This sounds like another trade that could get out of hand. For now, we know that Andre Iguodala and Justise Winslow have been swapped between Miami and Memphis. We’ll see how the Thunder work into the equation.
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 9:53 p.m. — James Johnson and Dion Waiters are not on the Heat bench Wednesday night vs. the Clippers and there’s speculation both players are involved in the trade.
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 8:50 p.m. — The Heat are sending Justise Winslow to the Grizzlies as part of the deal, per Woj. Winslow isn’t the only piece leaving Miami. He only makes $13M per season, so the salary doesn’t quite match up yet. We’ll keep you posted on details as they come in.
Justise Winslow is part of the package headed to Memphis in the Iguodala trade, league sources tell ESPN.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 6, 2020
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 8:39 p.m. — The Heat are trying to expand the Iggy trade to include the Thunder. The hope is that can also land Danillo Gallinari according to Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports. The Heat are clearly making moves to push for contention. They are currently +3000 to win the championship and +1000 to win the Eastern Conference at DK Sportsbook.
Told there is a chance this Miami/Memphis deal ends up a 3-team deal and brings in Oklahoma City. Heat are trying to find a way to add Danilo Gallinari and Memphis could re-route some expiring contracts to OKC.— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) February 6, 2020
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 8:25 p.m. — Not only has Iguodala been traded to the Heat, they have agreed to an extension. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the extension is for two years and worth $30M. The second year of the deal is a team option.
Memphis has agreed to a deal to send Andre Iguodala to Miami, league source tells ESPN. Iguodala agreed to trade and has agreed to a two-year, $30M extension with Miami.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 6, 2020
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 8:23 p.m. — The trade sending Andre Iguodala to the Heat is being finalized according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. Most importantly, Iggy is willing to play for Miami. He’s been selective about which destination he landed at and it looks like he has a new home in South Beach. We haven’t seen him play since last season when he scored 5.7 points per game and shot 33.% from three for the Golden State Warriors.
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 8:00 p.m. — In addition to trying to land Iggy, the Heat are also working on a trade to land Danilo Gallinari from the Oklahoma City Thunder, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojanarowski. Gallo is having a solid season for OKC, averaging 19.2 points per game and shooting 41% from three. He’s one of the best shooters in the league, so he would provide a ton of floor spacing for Miami. Gallinari is set to become a free agent after this season.
Pat Riley clearly sees an opportunity to make a run with these Heat: Riley has been working to trade for Memphis' Andre Iguodala AND Oklahoma City's Danilo Gallinari, league sources tell ESPN. Talks are ongoing.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 6, 2020
UPDATE: Feb. 5, 7:37 p.m. — The Grizzlies and Heat are in advanced discussions on a trade involving Andre Iguodala, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Miami Heat have emerged as a suitor for veteran G/F Andre Iguodala, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported early Tuesday. The veteran has been stuck on the Grizzlies all season while awaiting a trade. The time is fast approaching and multiple contenders are vying for the services of the three-time NBA Champion.
Iggy would bring a solid veteran presence and leadership to a mostly young Heat squad, led by Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic and mostly younger players like Kendrick Nunn and Bam Adebayo. Iguodala was crucial in those Warriors Championship teams, winning Finals MVP in 2015-16. Iguodala is the ideal 3-and-D wing for a championship squad. Miami, and many other teams, would love to add a player like Iguodala, but at what price?
