It’s unfortunate that Derrick Rose was injured heading into NBA Trade Deadline week. The Pistons PG sustained a groin injury in Sunday’s game against the Nuggets and did not return. For all we know, it’s precautionary to preserve Rose’s trade value. It also could be something a bit more serious that prevents Rose from landing with a contender. Let’s assume Rose is OK and returns next game.
Will Derrick Rose be traded before the deadline?
Injury aside, I think Rose is somebody the Pistons need to deal. Detroit is 18-33 and 4.0 games out of the No. 8 seed in the East. There’s literally no reason the Pistons should try and make the postseason to get swept by the Bucks in the first round. Dealing Rose would retain at least a pick and a prospect/expiring. Until Sunday’s injury, Rose had a streak of 14 straight games with at least 20 or more points. That type of scorer off the bench on a contender could be the difference between making it to the second or third round or all the way to the Finals.
Prediction: Will be traded.
