The Los Angeles Wildcats received some bad news on Tuesday as wide receiver Nelson Spruce has been ruled out for Week 4 against the New York Guardians, according to multiple reports. There are no big name “Insiders” in the XFL media yet, so for now XFL beat writer Alex Alarcon and XFL reporter Konnor Fulk are the sources.
Spruce has been the second best receiver in the XFL through three weeks, just behind Cam Phillips. Spruce has caught 20 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns. In his first three games, he has produced 24, 27, and 11 DraftKings Fantasy Points. What’s interesting is that in his third game, he had his worst performance of the season in spite of Josh Johnson having a stand-out performance. Tre McBride was the team’s leading receiver in that game, catching five of six targets for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
Spruce’s injury is unknown at this point, so we don’t know the length of his absence. The Wildcats opened as a touchdown favorite on the road against the Guardians at DraftKings Sportsbook. We’ll see if that line shows any movement this week.
