With the second half of the season about to start, Draftkings Sportsbook has put up odds for who will finish the regular with the most triple-doubles. As of now, LeBron James and Luka Doncic are tied for the league lead with 12 a piece.
Who is the Best Bet?
The current co-leaders in this category, James is priced as the favorite at -106 with Doncic right behind him at +105. With LeBron, my biggest concern is rest down the stretch of the season. The Los Angeles Lakers currently are the top seed in the Western Conference and have a four-game lead over the Denver Nuggets. This could lead to nights off for James down the stretch of the season. It also stands to reason that he is more likely to be rested against the worst teams in the league, which are obviously the best matchups from him to accumulate counting stats. This leads me to lean towards Luka as the better bet amongst the favorites.
Of guys with longer shots that have a chance to lead the league in triple-doubles, Nikola Jokic is priced at +400 and Russell Westbrook is +2000. Jokic is at 11 triple-double for the season and Westbrook is at eight. Even though Westbrook has a decent amount of ground to make up, I think he makes for decent value at his odds. The main reason is that his production is trending up. Russ struggled to find his place alongside James Harden earlier in the season and he’s thrived since the Houston Rockets moved towards a small ball approach. Five of his triple-doubles have come since December and he should see an uptick in rebounds now that that the Rockets are playing without a true center. Russ pulls down 8.8 rebounds per 36 minutes when playing without Clint Capela.
