Quarterback rankings for XFL Week 3

We take you through some of the best quarterbacks going into Week 3 of the XFL for fantasy football.

The XFL has made it through 20 percent of its inaugural season and Week 3 is upon us. We are starting to get a better handle on a few of the teams, but questions abound for most of them.

We know Houston and DC are pretty good, while Tampa Bay is pretty bad. Dallas and Los Angeles welcomed back their planned Week 1 starting quarterbacks, but both have a lot of questions to be answered. St. Louis is looking better than expected, while New York is looking worse than expected — albeit having faced some tough opponents to date.

And so, we’re back with another round of fantasy football rankings. We’re getting a better handle on usage numbers, but it’s still a roll of the dice. Some teams have yet to settle on a starting quarterback, which leaves fantasy players trying to sort through some messy situations if they are not locked in on someone like P.J. Walker, Cardale Jones, Jordan Ta’amu or Landry Jones.

Half the league was back at practice on Tuesday, and Tampa Bay Vipers quarterback Aaron Murray remains sidelined with a foot injury. He missed last week with the injury and has yet to return to practice. Taylor Cornelius started in his place, but was rotated with Quinton Flowers for stretches of Week 2. At times it seemed like Cornelius was being benched, but it’s hard to tell exactly what Marc Trestman was doing.

We might have five moderately legitimate quarterbacks in the XFL heading into Week 3. Landry Jones returned and put up big numbers in Dallas’ Air Raid offense. More consistency would be nice, but we know he’ll get volume opportunities. Josh Johnson returned and had a big fourth quarter for LA. Ideally he was shaking off rust and emerges as a moderately consistent option.

After that, it’s hit-or-miss at best. Matt McGloin was the worst quarterback in Week 2, but was also facing a tough DC defense. There’s little reason to get excited about his potential against an unexpectedly decent St. Louis defense, but it’s not like the XFL is all that deep.
