Preseason odds for NFL teams is a good way to look back to see expectations for the season and start to understand where things went wrong or right. Below, we will take a look at DraftKings Sportsbook’s preseason odds for win totals, division titles, player props and more while we discuss what led to their triumphs or disappointments.

Team Futures

Super Bowl: +3000
AFC South: +125
Win Total Over/Under: 8.5

The Houston Texans alternated two wins with one loss all season long, and while they never got on a true hot streak, it was enough to finish 10-6 record and get past their 8.5 win total. Perhaps aided by Andrew Luck’s decision to retire right before the season started, Texans’ bettors earned some cash with their AFC South crown.

Houston trailed 16-0 late in the third quarter of the Wild Card round game against the Buffalo Bills before rallying back for an overtime win. Then, things were looking pretty good for the Texans for the first 15-plus minutes against the eventual-Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Houston held a 24-0 lead early in the second quarter, but Kansas City took the lead by halftime and won 51-31.

Player Props

Deshaun Watson MVP: +3000
Deshaun Watson passing yards: 4,000.5
DeAndre Hopkins receiving yards: 1,400.5
DeAndre Hopkins receiving TDs: 9.5

Deshaun Watson didn’t quite have an MVP season, and Lamar Jackson received every vote for the award. He finished 2019 with 3,852 passing yards, finishing 148.5 short of the projected total.

DeAndre Hopkins had another big season as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, but he came short of his totals for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. In 15 games, Hopkins caught seven touchdown passes (2.5 off the mark) and gained 1,165 receiving yards (235.5 yards short).
