The Dallas Renegades face the Los Angeles Wildcats in Week 2 of the inaugural XFL season, and Dallas is hoping to get a key cog back. Quarterback Landry Jones is dealing with a knee injury that kept him from playing in the team’s season opener against St. Louis. He was listed as limited in practice last week and remains limited early in this week’s preparations.
Philip Nelson started in place of Jones and was fairly mediocre. He completed 79 percent of his passes, but it took 42 pass attempts for Nelson to get to 209 yards. In the air raid offense Dallas would like to run under OC Hal Mumme, that’s just not going to cut it.
Jones was active for the game as an emergency option, which bodes well for his chances of starting this weekend against LA. Dallas and LA both lost their opener and in a ten-game season can’t afford to start 0-2. Jones is viewed as one of the handful of best players in the XFL, so even the new league has to be hoping he’s able to get back into action this weekend.
