The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series (now title-sponsor free!) kicks off today with the Bluegreen Vacations Duel At Daytona. Often still colloquially known as the Twin 125’s, these two 50 lap races will set the field and positions for the Great American Race, the Daytona 500, on Sunday, February 16th.

DraftKings has a full DFS slate available, so let’s take a look at the field and try to pick some winners. We’re going to put a heavy emphasis on results at Daytona and Talladega in 2018 and ‘19 because of the new car setups in those years (which of course change next year anyway).

The Favorites

Kyle Busch ($9000)

Has never won the Great American Race, but has plenty of Top 5 finishes at Daytona, including 2nd last year in the Big One. Led 2019 in average running position, and that will matter for fantasy points here. Running third to start here, but if he stays out of trouble here, he’s a threat to start fourth on Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson ($9400)

The guy with more hardware than anyone has three Cup wins at Daytona, and it’s his last dance through the tracks. Finishing his full-time driver career with a win at the Twin or the 500 would be fun to see. And he’s got a car that can compete here.

The Sleepers

William Byron ($9200)

Can a guy that’s starting fourth and with a value over $9k truly a sleeper? Absolutely! Byron is still looking to win a race, and he’s well-positioned to do it at the big one. Look for a strong finish in the Twin from him here.

Ty Dillon ($6200)

How’s this guy so cheap?? Starting 15th in a Duel isn’t great, but he’s finished 6th, 6th, and 4th in his last three races at Daytona. Absolutely worth a flyer at this price.

The Darkhorses

Justin Haley ($6700)

Three Top 10’s in his last five races here, and a good price at $6700. No reason the FrontRow Motorsports can’t slide into the front of the pack in the shortened race.

Corey LaJoie ($6000)

Starting 15th here, but had a bad lap from what we were told. Probably won’t challenge for the win barring wreck luck, but started 30th here last July and got 6th. We’re here for the value!
