Brandin Cooks limited, Keke Coutee upgaded to full in Thursday Week 14 practice

The Texans are short at wide receiver due to injuries and suspensions. We break down the status for Brandin Cooks and Keke Coutee in Week 14.

Thursday update: Keke Coutee was upgraded to full on Thursday while Brandin Cooks remained limited in practice. Both seem on track to play, but Cooks’ status is worth monitoring.

The Houston Texans are dealing with a whole host of issues at the wide receiver position and we can add a couple more injuries to the mix. Brandin Cooks and Keke Coutee were both listed as limited on the team’s Wednesday practice participation report to open Week 14. Cooks is dealing with foot and neck issues while Coutee has a knee issue.

The Texans are already down Will Fuller due to a PED suspension and Randall Cobb due to a toe injury that has him on injured reserve. Cooks and Coutee are the team’s top two receivers now, although Chad Hansen impressed as well last week against the Colts.

Houston faces the Chicago Bears in Week 14 and it is not a great matchup for the Texans receivers. Chicago ranks 11th in pass defense efficiency and has given up the fourth fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. Hansen’s emergence last week raises some questions as to where Deshaun Watson will look on pass plays. Watson remains a strong fantasy play, but the Texans receivers are a little tougher to sort out — particularly in what could be a tough matchup.
