Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley is listed as questionable heading into their matchup this weekend. He is dealing with a knee injury that sidelined him last weekend. So as we look ahead to Week 13, here’s a look at what fantasy manager should be doing with Gurley and Brian Hill in the Atlanta backfield.
Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons RBs Todd Gurley, Brian Hill
Without Gurley last weekend in a 43-6 win against the Las Vegas Raiders, Brian Hill had the most rushing attempts with 13 carries, which went for 55 yards. Ito Smith had the more productive day on the ground for the Falcons with 65 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. He also added four receptions for 10 yards.
Gurley missed practice all of last week but returned on Wednesday. In his last time out against the New Orleans Saints, he carried the ball eight times for 26 yards.
No matter who starts at running back, the Falcons will be matched up with the Saints for the second time in the last three weeks. New Orleans is ranked No. 2 in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game at 76.6 behind only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In its last time out, New Orleans held the Denver Broncos to 100 yards rushing and three yards per carry, as they started practice squad wide receiver Kendall Hinton as the starting quarterback.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
If he is able to go, Gurley is probably going to be looked at as a No. 3 running back for fantasy purposes. If he doesn’t go, Hill and Smith could split time, making them both low-ceiling plays for fantasy owners.
