Game day update: Cam Newton took most of the first team reps this week and is expected to start against the Chargers, per Ian Rapoport.

The New England Patriots have made it a practice to list a dozen or more players as questionable every week. This time that list includes quarterback Cam Newton, who appears on the official injury report with an abdominal injury. However, he is expected to play this week against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy impact: Cam Newton (abdomen)

Newton was listed as a limited participant in practice for all three session this week. He made it clear speaking the media on Thursday that he was feeling well enough to play this week.

The Patriots quarterback has just four passing touchdowns and 1,984 passing yards this season, but he continues to be a scoring threat on the ground, with nine rushing touchdowns and 387 rushing yards. The Chargers have allowed quarterbacks to score four rushing touchdowns against them this season, including one last week by Josh Allen of the Bills. Newton is a decent starting option this week.
