In Week 12, Justin Herbert failed to reach 20+ fantasy points for just the second time this season, as the Chargers fell to a tough Bills team. Herbert completed 31 of 52 passes for 316 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Despite the high yardage, Herbert was able to find the end zone just once, finishing with a disappointing, but still decent, 16.44 points on the day. The Bills aren’t even a particularly tough matchup for quarterbacks and fantasy owners will hope he can get closer to his 23.5 point per game season average in Week 13 against the Patriots. What are the odds Herbert can return to QB1 status? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers QB Justin Herbert
Unfortunately for Justin Herbert, the Patriots have not been particularly friendly to the quarterback position so far this year. They have allowed the 8th fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks so far. The points they have allowed are even likely skewed by two big 30+ point performances by Russel Wilson and Deshaun Watson . They have allowed 16 passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns to the position so far. The Patriots can obviously give up big games, but they are also capable of stifling great quarterbacks, evidenced by holding Kyler Murray to only 7.9 points in Week 12. Justin Herbert has been hot all season and is more likely to be a boom than a bust in any given week. Owners will hope that he can be the next quarterback to put up a big performance against New England. A rough outing is always a possibility, but put your faith in his standard of play this season and fire him up as a QB1.
