Baker Mayfield broke his touchdown drought in Week 12 as he completed 19 of 29 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the day with a respectable 18.42 fantasy points. Unfortunately, this was Mayfield’s first double digit performance since Week 7. Quarterbacks should almost always have double digit performances, so three straight weeks with single digit scoring and no touchdowns should give concern to any fantasy manager considering starting Mayfield. Should his improved Week 12 performance make you consider starting him in Week 13? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Browns QB Baker Mayfield
The Tennessee Titans defense has allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks so far this season, giving Baker Mayfield a much needed favorable matchup. Even with a good matchup, it can’t be ignored that Mayfield is only averaging 13.1 fantasy points per game and has failed to reach double digits in six of 11 games played so far this season. The Browns get it done on the ground, significantly limiting Mayfield’s upside. The Titans are also a favorable matchup on the ground, so there’s no reason to believe the Browns won’t stick with their run heavy approach. The one-two punch of Chubb and Hunt eats into Mayfield’s value too much, relegating him to low end QB2 territory. Sit him in standard leagues this week.
