How the public is betting Errol Spence Jr. vs. Danny Garcia

The betting public is divided on how this welterweight title fight might go.

Errol Spence Jr. puts his unified welterweight championship on the line Saturday evening when he squares off against sixth-ranked contender Danny Garcia. The affair goes down at AT&T Stadium in Texas and will air on FOX Sports PPV, with the main card getting underway at 9 p.m. ET.

Spence is making his return from a 15-month layoff following a single-car wreck that resulted in facial lacerations and some time in intensive care. Rather than return in a tune-up fight, Spence is taking on a fairly sizable challenge. Garcia is a two-division champ and while he stumbled a bit when he climbed from junior welterweight to welterweight, he’s won two straight, claiming the World Boxing Council Silver Welterweight title in the process.

The unbeaten Spence is favored in this fight, sitting at -500 while Garcia is +325. The betting public is split on how this fight could turn out. 59 percent of tickets booked are on Spence, but 64 percent of the handle is on Garcia. Given the layoff, it’s not surprising a sizable amount of money is on the underdog.

We don’t have splits on winning method, but a Spence decision sits at -148 while a Spence KO, TKO, or DQ win is +275. On the other side, a Garcia decision is +600 and a Garcia KO, TKO, or DQ win is +800. A tie sits at +2000.
