Game day update: The Bengals’ offense will be looking to improve off of their performance last week against the Giants. Rookie wide receiver Tee Higgins was the only player to score a touchdown, giving him 10.4 fantasy points. Quarterback Brandon Allen will try to look for Higgins and Tyler Boyd on Sunday against a Dolphins’ defense that is surrendering 22.7 fantasy points a game to opposing wide receivers. However, they have not allowed a receiving touchdown in two consecutive games. ESPN projects Higgins, Boyd, and A.J. Green to score 7.5, 7.6, and 4.9 fantasy points.

There was a lot of potential in the Cincinnati wide receiver bubble this season, but that bubble unfortunately burst when Joe Borrow was lost for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. Nobody in this group holds the value that they did just a few weeks ago. That is undeniable. The question at hand is: Do any of them still hold enough value to earn a spot in your starting lineup? We break down the fantasy analysis below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals WRs Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, A.J. Green

Tyler Boyd has averaged 15.2 fantasy points per game this season and is the 19th ranked fantasy wide receiver at the moment. Unfortunately, Week 12 demonstrated just how much Tyler Boyd could suffer without Joe Burrow under center. Boyd received only six targets, and hauled in three receptions for 15 yards to tally his lowest point total of the season. Many thought Boyd would be the main beneficiary of Brandon Allen’s presence as he was expected to get many short yardage slot targets. Unfortunately, things didn’t play out this way in Week 12. Boyd has a match up of similar caliber in the Dolphins in Week 13. Due to his new circumstances, Boyd gets bumped down to WR3 territory with hopes that his target share bumps back up to his usual volume.

Tee Higgins had a decent fantasy day in Week 12, as he was the lone receiver to find the end zone and brought in five receptions for 44 yards. He even managed to outscore his season average of 13.3 points per game. It’s possible that Higgins receives a small bump in value if his chemistry with Allen holds up. This optimism should be approached with caution however, as Higgins should not be valued as more than a low end WR3/flex.

A.J. Green made a brief return to fantasy relevance when he score 14.0 fantasy points in Week 12, but he sandwiched that performance with two goose eggs, proving that he can’t be trusted on a weekly basis. Sure, he might have four or five receptions plus a touchdown. On the other hand he may not touch the ball. He is too risky for your lineup and should remain on the bench this week.
