Sometimes it pays to let it ride

Why go for the easy cash when you can let it ride and sweat out a nail-biter?

Radio personality Bobby Bones did just that to close out a three-leg parlay at DraftKings Sportsbook and cashed it thanks to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Bones put together a bowl game parlay featuring Wisconsin beating Wake Forest, Texas to cover as 7.5-point favorites vs. Colorado, and Mississippi State to beat Tulsa.

Bones got off to an easy start with Texas cruising to victory over Colorado on Tuesday. The Buffaloes kept it to within seven in the first half, but the Longhorns broke it open and cruised to a 55-23 victory.

Things got tense a day later with Wake Forest jumping out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on Wisconsin. The Badgers must have needed some time to remember they had a bowl game to play. They tied the game in the second quarter and pulled away in the fourth quarter in a 42-28 victory.

Which brought us to Thursday. Bones had a chance to cash out a little under $300 less than he could win with a Bulldogs victory. He put it to a vote on his Instagram Story and his followers went with the age-old mantra, “Scared money don’t make money.”

Mississippi State led the entire game, but it was a close one for much of the day. The Bulldogs are known for offensive-minded head coach Mike Leach, but their defense stepped up in a big way. They stopped Tulsa deep in Bulldog territory several times, including a critical red zone interception later in the fourth quarter.
