Gleaning information from Bill Belichick is never an easy task, but he might have let some actual insight into his Week 17 plans out on Tuesday. When a reporter threw out the idea that the team might not be able to find out much more about Jarrett Stidham if he started Week 17, Belichick replied, “I think there would be some truth to that,” per WEEI’s Ryan Hannable.
The Patriots likely don’t have their 2021 quarterback on the roster at the moment and surely don’t have their quarterback of the future there either. What they’ll do is anybody’s guess at the moment, but this Week 17 game against the 2-13 Jets isn’t going to move the needle in any particular direction.
In 14 games played, Newton has thrown for 2,415 yards, five passing touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He’s rushed 126 times for 513 yards and 12 touchdowns. Stidham has completed 50 percent of his passes for 5.8 yards per pass and has two touchdown passes to three interceptions.
