What Bills can clinch in Week 17 for the 2021 NFL playoffs

The Bills will be either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the 2021 NFL playoffs. We break down what they need to do in Week 17 to clinch the higher seed.

The Buffalo Bills snapped the Patriots run of division titles and is headed to the 2021 NFL playoffs as the AFC East champ. The Bills head into Week 17 with a 12-3 record, marking the first time since 1993 they’ve won 12 games.

The Chiefs have clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, leaving the Bills to claim either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed. Playoff expansion this year means only the No. 1 seed gets a bye, so that could impact how teams approach Week 17.

Buffalo holds the tiebreaker edge over Pittsburgh in the playoff race. If the Bills beat the Dolphins this Sunday or if they lose and the Steelers lose to the Browns, Buffalo will claim the No. 2 seed. If the Bills lose to the Dolphins and the Steelers beat the Browns, Buffalo will claim the No. 3 seed.

Buffalo entered the season as the AFC East favorite (+120) and had -182 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook to clinch any kind of playoff berth.
