Kyler Murray says he expects to play in Week 17

The Cardinals hope their star quarterback can go in a must-win Week 17 matchup.

Wednesday update: Murray practiced on Wednesday and plans on playing on Sunday, per Cameron Cox.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was hurt at the very end of their Week 17 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, as he was leg whipped on a last-ditch effort throw. Initial reports were that he didn’t suffer a serious injury, but coach Kliff Kingsbury did tell reporters that Murray’s status for Week 17 is uncertain, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

If the Cardinals can beat the Rams this week, they are in the playoffs. That likely means that Murray will do everything he can to get ready and with no reported structural damage, he likely will play.

The matchup with the Rams looks to have gotten much easier, as they could be without their starting quarterback Jared Goff and their top-two running backs, Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers.

The Cardinals backup was a star in the Canadian Football League, but Chris Streveler would be a big downgrade for the Cardinals offense.
