The New York Giants stumbled to a 1-7 record out of the gate this season, and yet they still have a reasonable chance at winning the NFC East. Headed into Week 17, the Giants will clinch the division and join the field of the 2021 NFL playoffs if they beat the Dallas Cowboys at home and then have the Washington Football Team lose a road game to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Giants entered the season as a long-shot to make it to the playoffs at DraftKings Sportsbook. They had the third longest odds to win the NFC East, installed at +1100 coming out of training camp. They also had the fifth longest odds to just make the playoffs. They were +370 to make the playoffs in any form coming into Week 1.
The NFC East has been a mess this season and will have a team with a losing record representing it. If the Giants get in, they would be the first six-win team in the playoffs under the 16-game format.
