The Detroit Lions defense was without their coaches and multiple secondary members, but this was still an embarrassing performance in Week 16 against the Buccaneers. Tom Brady was nearly flawless as he hit wide open player after wide open player on his way to completing 22-of-27 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns in just one half of play.
And then, to add insult to injury, backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert came in and threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski on Tampa Bay’s first play of the second half. And of course, nobody cover Gronk as he scored his second touchdown of the game. That touchdown put the Buccaneers up 40-0.
Brady spread the ball out well, hitting Gronkowski, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown with touchdowns. This is the offense we were hoping for in fantasy football from the start, but they have been inconsistent this season. A nice stretch of matchups have helped Brady and company put things together of late and may get them on track going into the playoffs.
This statistic might be the most telling for how well the Buccaneers offense has been playing the last couple games:
Brady has now thrown for 668 yards over the last four quarters.
