How to handle Chase Edmonds injury in Week 16 fantasy football

Chase Edmonds is on the Cardinals final injury report for Week 16. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

UPDATE: Chase Edmonds is officially active to face the 49ers in Week 16.

The Arizona Cardinals backfield has been a tough one to figure out at times, with both Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds seemingly gaining the edge at different times. Injuries have opened up some opportunities, and we could see it once again in Week 16.

Edmonds is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers due to ankle and knee issues. The ankle injury is likely a carry-over from Week 15, when he was questionable after sitting out the first two practices of the week. However, he has added a knee injury to this and once again sat the first two practices of the week before getting in a limited workout in the final practice.

Fantasy impact: Chase Edmonds (ankle, knee)

The Cardinals play on Saturday at 4:30, the third game of the week following Friday’s Vikings-Saints and the early Bucs-Lions game on Saturday. You’ll have most of your options to decide from when this game gets going, so you can likely wait and see if Edmonds plays. The 49ers rank 6th in fantasy points allowed to running backs, but Edmonds work as a pass catcher opens the door for a bit more of an opportunity and he is worth a start if active.

If Edmonds ends up sitting out the game, Kenyan Drake gets that much more value. He’s already a quality start, but no Edmonds or limited Edmonds would be big for his upside.
