What to do with Jonathan Taylor, Nyheim Hines in Week 16 of the fantasy football playoffs

We go over the fantasy football outlook of Jonathan Taylor, Nyheim Hines ahead of the Colts Week 16 matchup against the Steelers.

Game day update: As the Steelers continue to struggle on offense, game script could be just right for another big performance by Jonathan Taylor. He’s projected for 17.5 carries and 14.9 fantasy points by ESPN Fantasy.

The Indianapolis Colts are keeping right on the heels of the Tennessee Titans in the race for the AFC South title after extending their winning streak to three games with a 27-20 victory over the Houston Texans. This winning streak lines up pretty well with the recent solid play of Jonathan Taylor, but is that trend destined for failure in Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers?

Fantasy Football analysis: Colts RBs Jonathan Taylor, Nyheim Hines

Over the last four games, Taylor has averaged 22.7 DKFP while Nyheim Hines has only managed 12.1 DKFP per game. He has established himself as the clear lead back in Indianapolis, which is great news for fantasy managers who stuck with the young RB throughout the season. In JT’s last three games, he has scored as many touchdowns (four) as he had in Weeks 1-12 combined.

The only issue, and it’s a major one, is that the Steelers defense is allowing the least DKFP per game to opposing rushers (17.9). Giovani Bernard gave Taylor managers a glimmer of hope when he scored twice in the Bengals’ shocking upset over the Steelers on Monday night, finishing with 22.7 DKFP. It’s clear at this stage that if the Colts get a lead, they’ll lean on Jonathan Taylor to handle most of the workload. But if Indy finds itself trailing then it may pivot to the more pass-game-featured back, Nyheim Hines, though that’s a stretch of an assumption.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Taylor. Sit Hines.
