The San Francisco 49ers have shut down Raheem Mostert for the last two games of the season after he re-injured his high ankle sprain. The ankle has been a problem this season, and Mostert acknowledged earlier in December that it would not fully heal until the offseason.
That leaves Jeff Wilson, Tevin Coleman, and Jerick McKinnon competing for snaps in Week 16 when the 49ers travel to face the Arizona Cardinals.
Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers RB Jeff Wilson Jr., Jerick McKinnon, Tevin Coleman
McKinnon and Coleman are sure to get some work complementing Wilson, but there is a strong chance this is the Jeff Wilson show in Arizona. After Mostert got hurt, Wilson only gave up three carries to Coleman in the second half, per Rotoworld. McKinnon had no carries on the day and finished with two catches for 22 yards.
The Cardinals rank 12th in fantasy points allowed to the running back position. Wilson can be inconsistent, averaging anywhere from 2.8 to 6.8 yards per carry in games over the past two months. However, he’ll likely get a sufficient workload to provide some volume value, he’ll get some work in the passing game, and he’s proven to be solid in the red zone.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Wilson as an RB2 in deeper leagues and flex in shallower leagues. Sit McKinnon and Coleman.
