Stat lines for the New Orleans Saints’ offensive skill players didn’t look all that different last week with the return of quarterback Drew Brees. Fortunately for Alvin Kamara’s incredibly patient fantasy managers, he has the chance for a big game this week against the Minnesota Vikings. Latavius Murray less so.
Fantasy Football analysis: Saints RBs Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray
With Brees back, Kamara’s receiving numbers were expected to bounce back. Targeted six times, he caught three of them for 40 yards last week, but he did manage to score a touchdown on one his catches. Still, he finally saw 10 targets the week before with Taysom Hill under center, after being almost written out of the passing game prior to that. It’s a good sign that he led the team in targets, and should continue to see a consistently high volume of looks from Brees. Kamara also rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries, with his team trailing most of the day.
Latavius Murray caught two passes for 26 yards and a touchdown. But he only had three yards on four carries in the ground game.
The Vikings have been giving up some decent performances to opposing running backs. David Montgomery of the Bears had 146 rushing yards and two scores against them last week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Kamara is an RB1 this week. Murray’s a risky play, but you could do worse by plugging him in as a third running back or sticking him in the flex spot.
