Golden State Warriors PF/C Draymond Green (foot) has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day, coach Steve Kerr confirmed to reporters on Wednesday. Green was unable to play in the Dubs’ opener against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night, a blowout loss. Kerr said that Green practiced fully on Wednesday but wasn’t deemed ready to return.
Things did not go well for the Warriors in the season opener vs. the Nets, losing 125-99 in Brooklyn. With Green sidelined, the Dubs went with a starting front court of James Wiseman and Eric Paschall. The rookie played well, but it was mostly in garbage time after the Nets went out to a massive lead early on. Paschall was supposed to be the chalk play of the century, which didn’t turn out well for owners. He only played 22 minutes and was ineffective.
Wiseman had a much better game, scoring 19 points with 6 rebounds in 24 minutes in the loss. He should end up starting again on Christmas Day, but that will be against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, not an easy task. With Green sidelined again and how the Warriors looked on Tuesday, it’s hard to envision this game lasting very long. Milwaukee could get out to a massive lead early and run away with it by halftime.
