Friday update: Gibson is listed as questionable for Week 16 on the final injury report.

Thursday update: Gibson was back at practice again on Thursday, which means he is trending in the right direction to play in Week 16.

The Washington Football Team could get their starting running back this week, as Antonio Gibson was at practice on Wednesday, per The Athletic’s Ben Standig. Gibson has been out the last two games after suffering a turf toe injury against the Steelers in Week 13.

We’ll need to see what his practice participation on the injury report is, but a limited practice would be a good start for his return this week against the Panthers. Peyton Barber has taken over for Gibson as the early down runner, while J.D. McKissic has seen an increase in work and had a big fantasy day last week.

Gibson’s fantasy upside remains lower than some due to his inconsistent receiving work, but he has had a nose for the end one with 11 touchdowns this season to go along with a good 4.7 yards per carry. The matchup with the Panthers is a good one, so if he can get a full practice in by Friday, he should be worth a fantasy start this week.
