The expectations for the Florida Gators picked up quite a bit of steam through the course of this season, but Florida lost each of its last two games to find itself in the Cotton Bowl to take on the Oklahoma Sooners, which are usually a constant in the College Football Playoff. This will be the first New Year’s Six game of the bowl season on Wednesday, Dec. 30. This game will get started at 8 p.m. ET in Arlington, Texas and can be seen on ESPN or the WatchESPN app.

How they got here
Florida used its high-powered offense to start the season at 8-1 before a stunning loss to the LSU Tigers in the regular season finale, and the Gators were overmatched against the Alabama Crimson Tide in a ridiculously high-scoring SEC title game.
As for Oklahoma, it’s certainly playing its best at the right time after the Sooners’ Playoff hopes were largely squashed by consecutive losses in their first two games of the Big 12 season. Since then, Oklahoma won its last seven games and won its sixth consecutive conference championship as freshman quarterback Spencer Rattler improved, as did the Oklahoma defense.
