There are a few wide receivers widely available that have either good matchups heading into Week 16, or had successful Week 15 performances, or could benefit from an injury. With that in mind, here are six with under 50% ownership in traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up for Week 16.
Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons (24 percent)
Next up — @KC, @TB
If Julio Jones is shut down for the year Gage’s value will continue to get a boost. He played more snaps than even Calvin Ridley in Week 14 and caught five passes for 68 yards and a score as Matt Ryan’s second option. He’ll get a rematch against the Buccanneers to close out the season and Atlanta’s lack of a running game should lead to plenty of passing.
Greg Ward, Philadelphia Eagles (3 percent)
Next up — @DAL, WAS
Ward is far from being Philly’s go-to guy but the Eagles’ new quarterback has taken a liking to him. Jalen Hurts has thrown three touchdown passes to Ward over the last three weeks. No Philadelphia wideout seems poised to dominate in terms of target share but Ward’s recent performances could make him an ideal pay against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16.
Jakobi Meyers, New England Patriots (31 percent)
Next up — BUF, NYJ
Meyers hauled in seven passes for 111 yards against the Miami Dolphins’ elite secondary in Week 15 and was the star of New England’s shorthanded receiving corps. He and Damiere Byrd both played 96 percent of the Patriots’ snaps on Sunday but it’s clear that Meyers has better chemistry with Cam Newton at this point. Julian Edelman likely won’t return now that New England has been eliminated from playoff contention so Meyers should keep getting plenty of exposure.
Tyron Johnson, Los Angeles Chargers (7 percent)
Next up — DEN, @KC
There’s no telling whether Keenan Allen and Mike Williams will continue to be on pitch counts but there’s no reason for the Chargers to push them when they have nothing to play for. Johnson’s wheels have helped him score two touchdowns over the past two weeks as part of one of the NFL’s most productive passing attacks. Don’t let him play less than Jalen Guyton discourage you.
Keke Coutee, Houston Texans (41 percent)
Next up — CIN, TEN
Coutee hasn't looked like the league-winning player he did two weeks ago lately but has scored a touchdown in back-to-back games. He’s ranked third in snaps among Texans in three straight games but has continued to retain solid fantasy value. Matchups against two bad defenses to close out the season could help him have another ceiling game.
