Best available running backs on the Week 16 waiver wire

Looking for help at running back? We take a look at five players widely available in Yahoo! leagues.

There are a few running backs widely available that have good matchups heading into Week 16, or had successful Week 15 performances, or could benefit from an injury. With that in mind, here are five running backs with under 57% rostership in traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up for Week 16.

Le’Veon Bell, Chiefs (54 percent)

Next up — Falcons

Bell hasn’t been special since signing with the Chiefs, but he has been competent and with Clyde Edwards-Helaire out, Bell should get the bulk of the work. The Falcons run defense is one of the better units in the league, so this isn’t a slam dunk play, but the Chiefs offense and Bell’s receiving ability make him a must start.

Jeff Wilson, 49ers (56 percent)

Next up — Cardinals

Raheem Mostert re-injured his ankle and appears iffy for next week. That should give Wilson the lead role. He has played well this season when given a chance and has found the end zone seven times with just 93 touches. He would become a must-start in most leagues if Mostert can’t go.

Salvon Ahmed, Dolphins (34 percent)

Next up — Raiders

Ahmed and the Dolphins running game looked great against the Patriots last week, topping 100 yards and a touchdown. As long as he’s the lead back again, which looks like he will be, he has a good shot of putting up fantasy numbers on the Raiders. Las Vegas has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs and eight rushing touchdowns over their last five games.

Tony Pollard, Cowboys (46 percent)

Next up — Eagles

Pollard scored twice with Ezekiel Elliott out last week and would again be a good fantasy play if Elliott can’t go against the Eagles. The chances seem good that Elliott will play. I do expect Pollard will see a healthy amount of touches in a committee with Elliott, but the Cowboys offense just isn’t one I’d want a part of unless it’s a full-time player.

Zack Moss, Bills (51 percent)

Next up — Patriots

The Dolphins Salvon Ahmed and Matt Breida just finished up running all over the Patriots and now Moss will get his shot. He is still splitting work with Devin Singletary, but has out-touched him 26 to 19 in the last two games.

Sony Michel, Patriots (19 percent)

Next up — Bills

Michel ran the ball 10 times for 74 yards last week with Damien Harris out. If Harris can’t go, he would again get his shot to lead the way. His upside is low in this offense, but could have value in deeper leagues.
