The Miami Dolphins currently field one of the most crowded backfields in the NFL. The group, which has rotated between lead backs due to injuries or other health concerns throughout the season, will have most of its key players available for Sunday’s matchup with the New England Patriots.
Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins RBs Matt Breida, Salvon Ahmed, DeAndre Washington
Matt Breida came off the reserve/COVID-19 list this week. While that puts him in position to take on a significant role in the offense, he will probably have a hard time garnering double-digit touches. Breida demonstrated some home-run ability with the 49ers, so he could still deliver a decent performance. Still, he represents a dice roll in the fantasy playoffs.
Meanwhile, Salvon Ahmed enters the weekend officially questionable to suit up due to a troublesome shoulder. He did manage to practice in a limited capacity all week, so his chance of playing seem decent. Regardless, the same timeshare issues that applied to Breida factor in with Ahmed as well.
DeAndre Washington led the Dolphins in carries a week ago, finishing the game with more than double the number of rushes (13) as his closest teammate (six, Tua Tagovailoa). That seems unlikely to happen with Breida and Ahmed back in the fold. Washington does offer some ability as a pass catcher but Miami hasn’t used him enough in that role to depend on the touches.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Breida, Ahmed, and Washington.
