Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts had a phenomenal first NFL start against the New Orleans Saints last week. Can he carry his Week 14 performance over to this Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals? Let’s discuss it below!

Fantasy Football analysis: Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

The rookie quarterback out of Oklahoma could not have had a better first start against the league’s best defense. Hurts was 17-of-30 for 167 yards, a touchdown, along with 106 rushing yards on 18 carries. His lone touchdown pass went to veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in the second quarter.

It was a similar type of performance from Hurts that we’ve seen from both Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray this season. The 6-foot-1 quarterback also scored an outstanding 19.3 fantasy points. Just like those two quarterbacks mentioned above, Hurts’ ability to make plays with his legs, makes him an intriguing QB play in fantasy football.

This week, he faces an Arizona Cardinals’ defense, which made life tough on New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones last week. Arizona had eight sacks and three takeaways, which is something the Eagles must be aware of with their less than stellar offensive line.

Additionally, Arizona’s defense is only giving up 17.6 fantasy points per game and forcing opposing quarterbacks into 10 interceptions this season. Hurts isn’t a QB1 play this week based off of his short sample size and this aggressive AZ defense.
