Thursday update: Todd Gurley did not practice on Thursday after getting a limited practice in on Wednesday, per the injury report. His status may have been for rest, as he’s missed Thursdays this season for that reason, making Friday’s participation more applicability to his status for this weekend.
Wednesday AM update: Gurley will go through individual drills on Wednesday, per D. Orlando Ledbetter. As long as he can stay on track, he’ll have a reasonable shot to play against the Saints in Week 13.
Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley missed last week’s game with a knee injury and will start off this week considered “day-to-day,” per ajcsports’ Jason Butt. That likely means that we won’t know if he got any practice reps in until the injury report comes out later today.
Gurley’s knee has been a problem for a while now, so this late season trouble was always in the cards. Gurley’s last five games have produced yards-per-carry results of, 2.4, 2.7, 2.6, 2.8 and 3.3, whereas his early season numbers were much better. His fantasy numbers remained decent, as he has found the end zone nine times. But, with his knee trouble likely hanging around for the rest of the season, he’s not going to have much upside when and if he can return to the lead role.
Ito Smith and Brian Hill split time last week with Gurley out and Smith ended up with more work, which included a touchdown and four receptions. Neither are safe candidates for fantasy points, but Smith appears like the leader of the two for now.
