Running back PPR rankings for Week 13 fantasy football

We take you through some of the best PPR running backs going in Week 13 for fantasy football, including a few viable streamers.

Final injury report

Josh Jacobs is out against the Jets. Devontae Booker should get the lead role.

J.K. Dobbins has been activated from the Covid-19 list while Mark Ingram is close to returning. Dobbins should be the best fantasy play of the group when the Ravens play the Cowboys on Tuesday.

Phillip Lindsay is questionable to play. If he can’t go, Melvin Gordon gets a boost against the Chiefs.

Carlos Hyde is questionable with a toe injury. If he can’t go, Chris Carson gets a bump in work.

D’Andre Swift has been cleared of his concussion, but missed work due to an illness. He should be able to go against the Bears, but might not be the workhorse he was the last time they played.

Matt Breida, Salvon Ahmed and DeAndre Washington are all out, making Patrick Laird the only active running back. The good news is that Myles Gaskin is close to returning and has a real chance to suit up against the Bengals.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire missed Thursday, Friday practice with an illness, but should be able to go by Sunday.

Dalvin Cook was removed from the final injury report for Week 13

Out: Josh Jacobs (ankle), Matt Breida (Covid-19 IR), C.J. Prosise (illness), Carlos Hyde (toe), Ty Montgomery (hamstring)
Doubtful: Salvon Ahmed (shoulder), DeAndre Washington (hamstring), Travis Homer (wrist, knee)
Questionable: Kalen Ballage (ankle), Todd Gurley (knee), Phillip Lindsay (ankle), D’Andre Swift (illness), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness)

Thursday injury report

Josh Jacobs didn’t practice once again. Reports are that his ankle injury is minor, so if he can practice Friday, he will still have a chance to play.

David Johnson is close to coming off injured reserve and could play this week.

Alvin Kamara was limited with a foot injury again on Thursday. He could continue to see fewer than normal snaps this week.

D’Andre Swift has been cleared of his concussion, but missed practice due to an illness. If he can return and practice on Friday he should be in line to play this week.

Kareem Hunt was limited again. If he can’t practice in full on Friday, give Nick Chubb a bump.

Todd Gurley missed practice on Thursday, but has been getting rest days this season. We’ll see what he does Friday before drawing too many conclusions.

Dalvin Cook was limited in practice again. He should be fine to play this week, but it would be nice to see a full practice on Friday.

Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed continue to practice. Both could be able to return this week.

Carlos Hyde did not practice on Thursday.

Tevin Coleman is off the injury report and should be available this week.

Phillip Lindsay returned to a limited practice on Thursday and appears to be back on track to play.

DNP: DeAndre Washington (hamstring), Clyde Edwards-Helaire, D’Andre Swift (illness), C.J. Prosise (illness), Josh Jacobs (ankle), Todd Gurley (knee), Carlos Hyde (toe)
Limited: Salvon Ahmed (shoulder), Kareem Hunt (thigh), Dalvin Cook (ankle), Kalen Ballage (ankle), Alvin Kamara
Full: D’Onta Foreman (knee), Jordan Wilkins (ribs), Dare Ogunbowale (hand), Devontae Booker (back)

Wednesday injury report

Josh Jacobs doesn’t practice on Wednesday. He has an ankle sprain and looks like he could have trouble playing this week against the Jets. If he does, Devontae Booker would get a good boost.

Dalvin Cook was limited with an ankle injury, but says he will be good to go against the Jaguars. It would be nice to see him get a full practice in by Friday though.

Todd Gurley got a limited practice in and could return against the Saints.

Kareem Hunt was limited in practice with a thigh injury. He will likely play this week, but the injury may have decreased his workload last week.

Alvin Kamara was limited in practice with a foot issue that he’s been nursing for a couple weeks. The injury plus Taysom Hill at quarterback has slowed down his production immensely.

D’Andre Swift returned to practice and was limited. It’s a good sign he is getting closer to clearing concussion protocol, but he has had setbacks, so he is no lock to be ready for the Bears this week.

Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed both were able to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday. Gaskin hasn’t come off I.R. yet, but should be getting close.

Phillip Lindsay didn’t practice Wednesday, but coach Fangio believes he’ll be ready for Sunday against the Chiefs.

Jonathan Taylor has been taken off the Covid-19 list. He will again join Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins in the backfield.

DNP: C.J. Prosise (illness), D’Onta Foreman (knee), DeAndre Washington (hamstring)
Limited: Tyler Ervin (ribs), Todd Gurley (knee), Alvin Kamara (foot), Dalvin Cook (ankle), Dare Ogunbowale (hand), D’Andre Swift (concussion), Phillip Lindsay (knee), Salvon Ahmed (shoulder)
Full: Jordan Wilkins (ribs)

Week 12 was yet another week to let the big dog Derrick Henry eat and eat he did. Henry took advantage of the Colts being down a couple defensive linemen and stomped them for 185 yards and three touchdowns. He now has 1,257 yards and 12 touchdowns through 11 games and his schedule gets even better moving forward.

Week 12 also brought us Antonio Gibson’s breakout game, as he totaled 136 yards and three touchdowns against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving day. His five receptions and 20 carries matched his season highs in both statistics and he now has 11 touchdowns on the season, with eight in his last five games. Matchups with the Steelers the 49ers his next two weeks aren’t great, but he’s proven he can get the job done.

And what about this James Robinson fella? What a story this guy has been. Last week he put up 159 yards and a touchdown. Only Dalvin Cook and Henry have more rushing yards on the season. This UDFA has beaten every running back drafted ahead of him, and by a wide margin.

Injury news

Josh Jacobs has an ankle sprain, but could still suit up against the Jets. If he can’t go, Devontae Booker would get the lead work.

Phillip Lindsay has a knee injury, but his coach is calling it minor. If he can’t go against the Chiefs, Royce Freeman would split work with Melvin Gordon.

Bye weeks

The Bucs and Panthers are on a bye in Week 13.

Streaming options

Damien Harris, Patriots

Harris is one-dimensional, as he doesn’t see many targets, but he does face a Chargers defense this week that has been giving up chunk gains on the ground all season. Over their last six games they’ve allowed 5.5 yards per carry to running backs and eight touchdowns. I like both James White and Harris this week, but I expect they try to get Harris going early, as they look to slow down Justin Herbert and keep Cam Newton from throwing too much.

Jonathan Taylor, Colts

The last time we saw Taylor he had 26 touches for 114 yards against the Packers. He missed last week due to Covid-19, but he will be back this week. He hasn’t lived up to his hype, but he’s still seeing a good workload and this week gets a great matchup with the Texans. And now the Texans are severely depleted at receiver with Will Fuller out. Deshaun Watson is going to have trouble taking the team on his back enough to force the Colts away from their running backs.
