The New England Patriots will be without their starting running back Damien Harris this week, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Harris suffered an ankle injury last week and despite getting in limited work will be unable to go. That will push Sony Michel back into the spotlight, while James White will also see an uptick in snaps with the hole Harris will leave.
Since returning from his quad injury, Michel hasn’t had much luck against the Chargers and Rams defenses, rushing 17 times for 55 yards and catching 1-of-2 targets for 23 yards. But he will get a big bump in usage against the Dolphins, who rank 23rd in rush defense DVOA, but have allowed a rushing touchdown to a running back in just five of their 13 games this season.
Harris has had a good season, rushing for five-yards per carry, but has just two touchdowns in 10 games along with five receptions. The Patriots offense as a whole has depleted scoring opportunities while Cam Newton has taken a big chunk of those opportunities when they finally present themselves.
