We get quite the Christmas present six days early from boxing’s super middleweight division this weekend. On Saturday, pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez puts his world super middleweight title on the line against the top of the super middleweight division as Callum Smith puts his super world super middle weight title. If you think too hard about the uses of super, it’ll make your head hurt.
The ring walks are scheduled for sometime after 11 p.m. ET on DAZN. Smith is putting his zero on the line in a significant step up in competition against a multi-division champ in Alvarez.
Alvarez opened at DraftKings Sportsbook as a -455 favorite, while Smith opened at +375. Money moved Alvarez to -670 and he has settled at -625 heading into fight day. Smith saw his odds move to +400 and then to +435 heading into fight day. That’s not overly surprising considering the betting splits on this one. 85 percent of handle and 87 percent of total bets at DraftKings Sportsbook are on Alvarez.
