Running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams have been a dynamic duo for the Green Bay Packers this season. Jones has been a top-20 RB1 play in fantasy football, while Williams has been an average RB2/FLEX option. After a so-so performance in Week 14, can they bounce back against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday night? Let’s break it down below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Packers RBs Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams
Last week against the Detroit Lions, veteran running back Aaron Jones was held under 100 rushing yards and without a rushing touchdown. Jones recorded 69 rushing yards on 15 carries, along with two receptions for six yards. The 26-year-old running back surprisingly scored a season-low 7.5 fantasy points.
It was also the second time in three games that Jones scored under 10 fantasy points. If Jones did not rip off a 70-plus yard touchdown run against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13, it might’ve been three consecutive games below the 10-point threshold.
As for Williams, he has not seen the end zone in the Packers’ last two games. Last week against the Lions, the 25-year-old running back had 38 rushing yards on 10 carries. It was the second-straight week that Williams did not reach 50 yards on the ground.
His best performance as a late happened in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears. In that game, Williams produced 73 rushing yards on 17 carries and a touchdown. With all that being said, can either running back bounced back against the Panthers on Saturday night?
The short answer is yes! But it will be tough as the Panthers’ defense is only giving up 113.6 rushing yards per game and 10 touchdowns to opposing running backs. They are also allowing 19.0 fantasy points a game this season.
In their last three games, they’ve only permitted a total of 24 fantasy points, which is pretty good. However, if the Panthers are going to focus on the Packers’ passing game, there should be opportunities for Jones.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start — Jones as a RB1
Sit — Jamaal Williams
