How to handle Keenan Allen, Mike Williams injuries in Week 15 fantasy football

Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are on the Chargers final injury report for Week 15 Thursday Night Football. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

Last second update:

Update: Both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are active. They apparently will be on a snap count, so fantasy players should be wary. Allen is still worth a start while Williams is riskier.

Adam Schefter update: Both Williams and Allen should play, but both will be on a rep count.

Pre-game warmups update: Allen gave beat reporter Omar Ruiz the thumbs up after Williams and he finished their pre-game warmups:

Game day late AM update: Mike Williams is not expected to play on Thursday due to his back injury, per Adam Schefter. Keenan Allen could still play, but if he does would likely be limited.

Game day update: Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are described as “true game-time decisions,” according to Tom Pelissero.

The Los Angeles Chargers wrapped up their short week of preparation and will now travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football to open Week 15. The short week means players are still getting over Week 14 injuries and ailments, and so the injury report is a little heavier than we might otherwise expect.

The Chargers’ top two wide receives — Keenan Allen and Mike Williams — are both listed as questionable for Thursday’s game. Allen injured his hamstring late on Sunday against the Falcons, while Williams suffered a back injury and left Sunday’s game early. Both were listed as DNPs on the Chargers Monday practice participation report and then limited on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It’s worth noting all three practices this week were described as walkthroughs. That means the three practice participation reports were estimates of how the players would have participated had the practice been full.

Fantasy impact: Keenan Allen (hamstring), Mike Williams (back)

The fact that Williams did not return from his back injury last Sunday is concerning for his questionable status. Allen finished out the game, but the injury happened in the fourth quarter, so it’s tough to tell what would have happened had it been a first half injury.

The upside for fantasy football managers is the fact that this is the first game of the week. Whether we get an update Thursday morning or find out when inactives come out at 6:20 p.m. ET, fantasy managers will know the two players’ statuses before any other roster decisions need to be made.

The Raiders rank 12th worst in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. This game could turn into a shootout and if Allen and Williams are active on Thursday, they’re both worth starting.
