The Florida Gators might have lost 37-34 at home to the LSU Tigers on Saturday night in The Swamp, but it was merely a flesh wound as far as the College Football Playoff Selection Committee is concerned.
The Gators dropped from No. 6 to No. 7 despite losing at home to a team that entered the game with a 3-5 record.
They’re replaced in the top six by the Iowa State Cyclones, who crack the top-tier for the first time in school history following a 42-6 victory over West Virginia. Also the San Jose State Spartans, undefeated at 6-0 and playing Boise State this weekend for the Mountain West Conference crown, crack the CFP Top 25 for the first time in school history
