UNLV Runnin’ Rebels head coach T.J. Otzelberger has tested positive for Covid-19, and his team will be missing at least the next three scheduled games because of contact tracing. Otzelberger put out a statement confirming the result.

A rapid antigen test and a PCR test both revealed that I am Covid-19 positive. I appreciate the outstanding care of our medical team and I am now in the required isolation. I look forward to returning to the team as soon as possible and in the meantime, I will remain connected to our team remotely. I encourage everyone to continue to follow all health and safety guidelines as we battle the pandemic together.

The Rebs were scheduled to face the Wyoming Cowboys in their Mountain West conference opener on Sunday in Laramie, but that’s been canceled.

UNLV is 1-4 this season so far, the second under Otzelberger. They picked up a 68-58 win in their last outing over Kansas State on December 5th.
