Friday update: The 49ers removed Raheem Mostert from their final injury report, which means he is good to go for Week 15.
Thursday update: Mostert was able to get a limited practice in on Thursday and appears on track to play against the Cowboys on Sunday.
Wednesday update: Kyle Shanahan told the media Raheem Mostert will sit out Wednesday’s practice, but the team believes he should be OK by the end of the week, per Jennifer Lee Chan.
It’s been a tough season for San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert, and the hits just keep on coming. Mostert took a hit to the head in Week 14 against the Washington Football Team, and while he was cleared to return, he also appears to have aggravated his ankle injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan told the media the team is waiting on further imagine of Mostert’s ankle, per Jennifer Lee Chan.
Mostert suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 6 and did not return until Week 12. He’s struggled to get going the past three weeks and previously acknowledged he would not be 100 percent until after the season. It’s unclear if this was a significant aggravation or just something he’ll deal with most weeks.
The 49ers travel to face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15. The Cowboys rank seventh worst for fantasy points allowed to running backs, creating a favorable matchup. Tevin Coleman is back to full health, so if Mostert can’t go, we could see Coleman, Jeff Wilson, and Jerick McKinnon splitting the workload.
